Team Northern Bayfield County Guide Service Consists of Boudy Vier and Larry Boggess, Wisconsin natives. Northern Bayfield County Guide Service is a bear guiding service located in, you guessed it, Northern Bayfield County here in Wisconsin. Find out a little more about these two below and be sure to support them, NBC Guide Service, and their efforts on Battle Scraps this season by connecting with them on their Team Facebook fan page.
Boudy Vier
Boudy Vier, 29, was born in Utah but since all his family is from Wisconsin, moved back in 1998 and graduated from Hudson High in 1999 then went into the air force where he then got out in 2001 and came back. In 2001 he met his lovely wife and got married in 2003. Together they have a son, Noah, and daughter, Kaelyn.
Boudy started hunting back in 1993 walking through the woods with his dad. It wasn't until 1999 when he shot his first deer which was a spike. Since then he's shot does gun hunting but 9 years ago he had a chance at a nice 150+ ten. Then it was five years ago he got a bow from a friend and liked it so much that he bought a new bow the same year.
That first year he shot at only one dear and…missed. Had the jitters. He got his first deer with a bow 2006, a button buck, and then in 2007 a doe. Then in 2008 "he got the monkey off his back" and got his first buck, 120 inch 8 pointer. In 2009 he shot two deer, claiming his first multi-deer year, with a doe and neat racked 7 pointer, an "old hog" of deer.
As for filming any hunts, this will be his first year trying. This is also the first year that he and Larry have hunted together even though they have worked together for 6 years now and have always shared stories. Finally, they've decided to hunt and video together.
Larry Boggess
Larry Boggess, also 29 years old, is married with a 1 year old son named Nathan. He's been gun hunting deer since he was 12 years old, went out on drives when he was even smaller. "I have loved hunting and everything about the outdoors", Larry writes.
Three years ago he was thinking to himself, "I wonder what bow hunting is like?" So he bought an old bow at an auction for $10.00 and had it fixed up a little bit and did some target shooting. That season was a turning point for him. On the first morning he had a doe come in and all he could do was watch her, he didn't even draw, just watched her and felt his heart pound. He only saw one other deer that whole season due to limited time in woods but after that year he was obsessed with the sport.
The next spring he went out and bought a new bow (of course he had some planning to do with the Mrs. but she was ok with it). Finally, last year after a slow and quiet start to the season he pulled back and harvested his first deer with a bow, a buck to boot, a nice 6 pointer he worked his butt off for and a true trophy.
He really liked the idea of being part of the show Battle Scraps because in the words of the man himself, "I really would love the opportunity to showcase everything that I have learned about bow hunting and this year I am setting a goal to shoot a great deer so I would be honored to have people watch as I set out to accomplish this goal."
